If you’re shipping gifts for the holiday from New Jersey this year, time is already running out to make sure they get there on time.
The three largest parcel services have brought forward their shipping dates for 2022 because Christmas falls on a Sunday this year.
In general, the sooner the better, but you have a little over two weeks to decide on the cheapest shipping options. All three major carriers have more expensive “rush delivery” options.
Below are the US Postal Service, FedEx, and UPS shipping deadlines for packages arriving in the United States before December 25th.
These times apply to shipping to the continental United States, excluding Alaska and Hawaii. If you are shipping internationally, check the web links provided for an estimate.
US Postal Service
- Retail Grounds: Saturday 17 December
- First Class Mail: Saturday 17 December
- Priority Mail: Monday 19 December
- Priority Mail Express: Friday 23 December

- FedEx Home Delivery, FedEx Ground: Wednesday 14 December
- FedEx Express Saver, FedEx 3Day Freight: Tuesday 20 December

UPS recommends checking the website for country delivery details. Also note that UPS has adjusted many of its delivery times and has suspended its guaranteed delivery service until further notice.

Data for 2022 from January through August, compiled by New Jersey Realtors, shows that homes in South Jersey are coming to market and selling in less than a month on average.
Average single family home prices have reached $500,000+ in nine counties in North and Central Jersey.
All but two counties have seen homes cost more than list price on average this year.
