Mostly sunny and pleasant Sunday, still colder valley temperatures

WEATHER DISCUSSION: The Helena Valley is in for another night of cold temperatures but expect gradual warming this week. Otherwise, a persistent downdraft will ensure much milder temperatures compared to the end of last week. Temperatures will rise to near, if not above, climatological averages over the course of this week.

The trip looks decent ahead of Thanksgiving. The biggest concern will be some snow showers Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, with light to moderate accumulations possible over mountain passes. Spot rain and snow showers are possible at lower elevations, but impact will be minimal. However, southwesterly breezes over the plains could result in reduced visibility due to blowing snow and blowing snow. That concern will diminish as temperatures rise and the snow begins to melt by Thanksgiving.
