Old deal in November:

Janet Sterling’s memorial gift to the Wayland Lions Club was approved as a donation to the Wayland Area’s Children’s Organization. Along with the donation check, a framed commemorative receipt will be presented to the organization in Janet’s name.

President Jay Meyer reported that the Halloween Meet and Greet on Main Street was a resounding success. Six Wayland Lions Club members volunteered to greet approximately 340 children.

The Wayland Lions Club voted to donate two American flags to the Eichelberger Farms Office Building on Route 78 for the 5 Holidays of the American Flag Program. The purpose is to recognize your continued support of the Wayland Lions Club’s pancake breakfasts and other activities. The proposal was accepted unanimously.

Wayland Lions Club members also approved awarding the Melvin Jones Fellowship plaque to Eichelberger Family Farms for their continued support. The award will be presented to the Eichelberger family businesses at the meeting on January 17, 2023.

Wayland Lions Club members approved a donation of eyewear from Wayland Community members.

November new business:

Wayland Lions Club members were pleased that President Jay Meyer accepted Amina Ferdig as a new member. Amina was sponsored by her mother Theresa Ferdig. This is an example of a Wayland family contributing to Wayland communities. Lion Amina receives her Lions Certificate of Membership from President Jay Meyer while Lion Theresa Ferdig looks on proudly.

Lions Stan Meyer and Theresa Ferdig coordinate the annual Christmas party for their members and spouses. Julie Pearson will provide catering on December 20, 2022 at the Wayland Community Center. The students of the WACO High School provide entertainment.

Guest speaker Bill Shutters has rescheduled his presentation on diabetes to the March 21, 2023 meeting.
