UI Athletics announces the Iowa Hawkeyes NIL Marketplace for student athletes

IOWA CITY, Iowa — The University of Iowa Athletics Department announced today that it has established the Iowa Hawkeyes NIL Marketplace. The marketplace powered by Opendorse will maximize NIL support for Iowa student-athletes.

This platform allows supporters to access student athletes and offer NIL opportunities. The marketplace gives Iowa fans, brands, and sponsors the ability to browse, book, pitch, and pay for any Hawkeye student-athlete for NIL activity on a compatible platform designed specifically for the athlete’s needs.

All current Iowa student-athletes have access to create a custom page in the Iowa Hawkeyes NIL Marketplace. Additionally, ex-Iowa athletes using Opendorse can also be accessed through the marketplace.

“Educating our student-athletes to become NIL and expanding their opportunities remains a high priority in our department. With the addition of the Iowa Hawkeye NIL Marketplace, all of our student-athletes have the opportunity to explore and benefit from NIL partnerships. Whether it’s the Iowa Hawkeye NIL Marketplace or the Swarm Collective, I encourage our contributors to explore opportunities that support our NIL efforts for students and athletes.”

Gary Barta, Henry B. and Patricia B. Tippie Director of the Department of Athletics

Through the Iowa Hawkeyes NIL Marketplace, each Iowa athlete will receive an Opendorse profile that they can customize and showcase to fans on their personal social media channels. When athletes are offered a NIL deal, they will receive a notification on the Opendorse app where they can accept and close the opportunity. Upon completion, the student-athlete will immediately receive compensation on their account.

“Iowa’s commitment to empowering student-athletes at every step of their career is what sets the Hawkeyes apart. Launching his NIL marketplace today is the next step in maximizing opportunities for every athlete. Now every Hawkeye fan and alumni can find, promote and support every Iowa student athlete with one trusted platform.”

Blake Lawrence, Opendorse CEO

In addition to the marketplace, UI Athletics continues to support student athletes in several other areas with the Hawkeye Flight NIL program. The FLIGHT program offers student-athletes the opportunity to understand their name, image and likeness rights, receive training and provide resources to improve their NIL potential.

The Swarm Collective offers Hawkeye fans the opportunity to directly support student athletes in women’s basketball, men’s basketball and football to capitalize on their name, image and likeness by attending events serving and fundraising for local charities and non-profit organizations .
