Snow showers make for a slippery morning commute in central Iowa

Interactive Radar | Weather WarningsWeather Summary:This afternoon was a cold and windy day with intermittent light snow flurries. Cold again tonight with lows falling into the high teens and low 20s into tomorrow morning. We saw light snowfall throughout northern Iowa tonight. It’ll be windy again tomorrow as a cold front makes its way through Iowa. By mid-afternoon, some models aim to bring in some snow showers, primarily in eastern and central Iowa. When this snow hits, it could bring some issues around the evening commute to watch out for. The snow wouldn’t matter much, but could cause slippery patches on the roads. Winds tomorrow will be gusty to 25-30 MPH. The wind won’t let up until Sunday, so plan for windy and cold days for the first part of the weekend. Wind chills remain in their teens for most of Thursday and into Friday. We have several cold days ahead. As we get into Sunday and beyond, temperatures will warm up a bit over the next week. Our next storm system looks to be getting here by Thanksgiving. Tomorrow will be our last day in the 30’s for a while as we see our temperatures drop into the low 20’s on Friday which would be a record cold high and we’ll likely stay in the low to mid 20’s in the 30’s until Saturday’s return on Sunday and 40s through midweek. After our recent snow we look dry for the next 8 days. Weather Summary: Cold tonight with single digit to teenage wind showers for much of tomorrow. Windy Thursday with highs below freezing.
